Tata Steel eyes 7-7.5 MT capacity expansion in India
Tata Steel has lined up a 7-7.5 million tonne (MT) capacity expansion pipeline across its Indian operations, with projects advancing through planning, engineering and approval stages, the steelmaker’s management said during the earnings call for second quarter of FY26. The company said the brownfield nature of this pipeline allows faster execution once clearances are secured and board approvals are obtained.
Safeguard duty needs to be renewed, says Tata Steel’s Narendran
Mumbai: Tata Steel is looking for the government to extend the safeguard duty of 12 per cent amid sharp increase in imports and domestic consignments meant for exports hitting the markets. TV Narendran, Managing Director, Tata Steel, in an interview with businessline said steel companies had demanded a safeguard duty of 25 per cent, but it was fixed at 12 per cent for six months. The safeguard duty will be up for renewal and needs to be extended to protect huge investments made in the recent years, he said. In April, the government levied a provisional 12 per cent safeguard duty on select steel imports for 200 days to protect the domestic industry from imports.

ReNew Energy Global Plc on Thursday announced that it will invest Rs 60,000 crore (~$6.7 billion) in Andhra Pradesh to set up multiple green energy projects in the state, taking its total fresh investment in the state to Rs 82,000 crore (~$9.3 billion).
NTPC to add 4.38 GW thermal, 14 GW renewables to its portfolio by March 2027
New Delhi: State-run NTPC has set a target to add more than 4 gigawatts (GW) of thermal power capacity, coupled with 14 GW of renewables, to its portfolio by March 2027. In FY26, the country’s largest power generator aims to add 2.78 GW of thermal power capacity and 6GW of renewable energy. As of H1 FY26, the company has added 2.78 GW thermal and 2.98 GW of renewable capacity.
Inox Wind bags 100 MW equipment supply order
New Delhi: Inox Wind on Thursday said it has secured a 100 MW equipment supply order from a leading green energy transition platform. This order is for supplying 3.3 MW turbines for the projects being developed by the customer in Gujarat, a company statement said. Additionally, Inox Wind will provide limited-scope Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) for the project, as well as multi-year operations & maintenance (O&M) services post commissioning of the turbines.
